BioWanderweiss Baumgartener, a known Syn in his hometown of Hamburg, Germany, was born a gifted child. Though he had an awkward personality and was rumoured to have a severe case of ADHD, his IQ test results proved otherwise. He lived with his grandparents because his father and mother abandoned him at an early age. The thought of having a Syn in their family disgusted them, and they fled, leaving Wanderweiss with his mother's parents.
Wanderweiss was bullied by most children at his montessori school, mostly because all the parents and children knew that he was a Syn. They viewed him as a threat, especially since he has never revealed his power. He was always quiet when his classmates would berate him, and would sometimes even go into a daze while they verbally abused him. However, they would never touch him, in fear of him somehow transferring his 'disease' to themselves.
It was one day that changed his whole life -- perhaps even for the better. Wanderweiss had climbed his way to the top of his grandparents' house and stood there, his balance perfect. He had a relaxed expression on his face, then, as if awakened from his reverie, panicked and began shrieking as he fell. But he didn't hit the ground, instead, he found himself suspended in the air. As he flew about, he learned to control his new ability and spent most of his time practicing (and accidentally eating bugs, which he loved.).
Because his situation at school was getting much worse and causing problems with his grandparents, Wanderweiss was shipped off to New Amsterdam in hopes of finding peace and acceptance among the people who were like him.
